Hyperbots Hosts Chicago Finance Leaders Connect: Exploring Agentic AI in F&A

The Westin Chicago River North recently welcomed an impressive gathering of CFOs and senior finance executives for the Chicago Finance Leaders Connect, hosted by Hyperbots.

Centered around the theme, "AI in Finance: From Insight to Autonomous Action," the event brought together finance leaders for an evening of meaningful networking, practical discussions, and peer learning. As AI continues to reshape Finance & Accounting, the conversations focused not on future possibilities alone, but on how finance teams can create measurable business value today.

The Intelligence Era: Why Human Judgment Still Matters

The discussion began with Brian Kalish, Principal and Founder of Kalish Consulting, who grounded the room with a reality check on the current state of enterprise AI adoption. He pointed out that enterprise AI investments have reached record levels, becoming nearly twice of what they were in 2023, yet many organizations are still struggling to realize the expected returns.

Brian emphasized that this gap should encourage organizations to approach AI investments with greater discipline and focus. Rather than pursuing AI simply because it's the latest trend, finance leaders should focus on addressing costly and high-impact business challenges first. Brian emphasized that organizations must identify where human judgment is important and apply AI where it can create measurable business value.

His key message to attendees was clear: the organizations that succeed with AI will not necessarily be the fastest adopters, but it will be those that take a thoughtful, ROI-driven approach to implementation.

Agentic AI and the Road to Measurable ROI

Rajeev Pathak, CEO and Co-founder of Hyperbots, followed with a practical framework for implementing Agentic AI across Finance & Accounting functions.

Drawing on research conducted with more than 800 CFOs, Rajeev outlined how organizations can prioritize AI investments based on business impact and measurable returns. Rather than attempting enterprise-wide transformation immediately, he recommended starting with high-volume, process-intensive functions where AI can deliver quick wins and tangible ROI, such as Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (O2C) processes. Then, organizations can move into strategic functions like expense management, treasury, tax & compliance, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), and mergers & acquisitions (M&A).

Rajeev also demonstrated function-specific ROI calculators for P2P and O2C functions designed to help finance leaders quantify expected benefits from AI adoption, including time savings, error reduction, process efficiency improvements, and cash flow impact.

A key takeaway from the session was that not every AI initiative will generate positive returns. The most successful organizations start tactically, validate value, and expand strategically based on measurable outcomes.

Bringing AI to Life: Real-World Finance Automation

The event also featured an overview of Hyperbots' AI-powered Finance & Accounting suite, which includes:

Attendees learned how Hyperbots solutions can integrate with major ERPs within 4-8 weeks, enabling organizations to accelerate adoption without major system disruption.

A particularly compelling customer success story was another key focus in the event. A robotic manufacturing company was facing several operational challenges, such as processing approximately 2,000+ invoices monthly, handling intricate invoice-PO-GRN matching requirements, and bearing high manual processing costs.

Using Hyperbots' AI agents and document processing capabilities that securely integrated with their on-premise ERP environment, the organization automated invoice processing, including even 100+ page invoices, and enabled seamless Invoice-PO-GRN matching. The results were impressive, with 75% reduction in human manual effort, improved operational visibility, and enhanced KPI performance.

The case study demonstrated how AI can move beyond experimentation and deliver measurable business outcomes in real-world finance operations.

Beyond the Presentations: The Conversations That Matter

While the presentations provided valuable insights, the most impactful part of the evening was the exchange among finance leaders themselves.

Attendees openly discussed their AI adoption journeys, implementation challenges, governance concerns, ROI expectations, and lessons learned from real deployments. These peer-to-peer conversations offered practical perspectives that cannot be found in reports or vendor presentations alone.

The event reinforced a growing consensus among finance leaders: AI's value is no longer a question of possibility but of execution, prioritization, and measurable business impact.

Hyperbots extends its sincere thanks to every CFO and finance executive who joined the event and contributed to the discussions. Meaningful progress in finance happens when leaders come together to share experiences, challenge assumptions, and learn from one another.
